One of the most enjoyable luxuries of my life is to sit in cafes and write. There are many cafes in Amsterdam to choose from and enough diversity of atmosphere to match my mood at any moment.
The latest one I've discovered is the beautiful light-filled serre of Spiritual-centre "De Roos" by the Vondel park.
I've known about this centre for years - even been here a few times, but it seems like only now it has any real meaning for me.
I often take a walk in the park as a sort of meditation - sometimes drinking coffee in one of the park's cafes or another regular haunt closer to my house. But now I think this place has the energy I need at this point in my life. I've been here twice in the last two days, to soak up the inspiration and enjoy the scent of incense and the sounds of spiritual music playing from the centre's little shop.
This morning I read through one of the free papers on the reading table - a copy of Koorddanser. Inside there was an interview with a musician called Freek Zwanenberg, who plays and lives with the essence of improvisation. Greatly inspiring and just what I need to hear today. I need to get back the sense of "play" in my life. Tonight this was further inspired when I was surfing through videos on Alan Watts... he talks a lot about the concept of "life as play"... again just what I needed to hear. And these are all synchronicity signs for me.
A pleasant day... here's a shot of the cafe:
