I have pretty regular lucid dreams - I love them. And I intend to develop my capabilities in this area. Usually, once I realize I'm dreaming I take off flying - can't resist it. But I was inspired to look into it a little more recently. After a discussion with my brother over the holographic nature of reality, I made reference to lucid dreaming and realized I never took the time to really be aware of the "reality of matter" within the dream. So I gave my subconscious a task, that the next time I have a lucid dream I would be more "aware".
It took a few days but the dream finally came and in it I remembered the task: to feel the material consistency of things around me. In the dream I was standing next to a thick wooden post, and, because I knew I was dreaming, I decided to see how it was to put my hand through the post. It was amazing - my hand glided through the wood easily, I even held it there to get the full sensation. It was like putting your hand through dry water that had a rough texture. Later in the dream I saw a pile of felled tree-trunks, each about 6ft long and 4 ft in diameter. I knew I could lift them so I did. They weren't weightless, but they were light enough to lift above my head.
In another dream, I lifted my hand to feel the texture of a cotton flag, ran it through my fingers to really feel the sensation - and then I started telling the person I was with (a "pretty girl"... regular dream fantasy), that I was dreaming and would probably wake shortly. She asked if she was dreaming and I said I don't know - only that I am.
In another, I realized that my adult son was only a child, so I must have been dreaming, and on this realization I called to the group I was with and shouted - "Hey, I'm dreaming, Who wants to fly?" So we flew a little before I woke.
The holographic universe theory tells us that this reality is no different from a lucid dream - except that our belief system just too strongly programmed to accept this. But there are experiments and research out there that are opening this idea up to us. Just imagine.....
Anyway, I just got a link on facebook over lucid dreaming... worth sharing: http://collectivelyconscious.net/articles/9-reasons-why-everyone-should-lucid-dream/
